Treatment Services

Opioid Treatment Program

Our outpatient opioid treatment program provides Medication-Assisted Treatment using methadone, buprenorphine (Suboxone®) or naltrexone (Vivitrol®). Short and long-term opioid detoxification and maintenance are offered to patients with a primary addiction to heroin or other opioids.

Individual, Group Counseling and Psychotherapy

All patients in treatment have a full range of medical and counseling services included in their individualized treatment plan. Programs are offered to help our patients with tobacco use disorder and HCV disease. Educational and support groups offered include: parenting, gender specific counseling, peer support, relapse prevention, and relaxation techniques (including acupuncture).

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders

All patients will be screened for mental health issues/needs at intake and throughout treatment using appropriate screening tools. Patients with mental health needs will be referred to a mental health practitioner for evaluation and treatment, if appropriate. When indicated, medication for co-occurring disorders are prescribed by the medical director. Psychotherapy services are provided by a licensed therapist.

Perinatal Program

The perinatal program is an ambulatory care program for the treatment of pregnant and post-partum women with substance use disorders.  This program is a collaboration between Hackensack-Meridian Health, Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Integral parts of this program include: on-site obstetrical care, parenting classes, health education and counseling.  Patients may choose to use a private obstetrician. To help improve fetal outcomes, there is coordination of care between JSASHC and your physician. Comprehensive case management services and recovery support services are available.

Maternal Wrap Around Program (MWRAP)

This program is open to any pregnant or post-partum woman who is addicted to heroin or other opioids. The MWRAP program offers comprehensive case management services and recovery support services. A comprehensive Case Management Assessment is developed that addresses life domains such as housing, finances, transportation, legal services, vocational, employment, health care and family strengths/needs.

Nurse Care Management

This program provides support to patients to improve their overall health and well-being through integration of their medical healthcare and behavioral healthcare plans. The Nurse Care Management team assists patients with referrals to appropriate medical care, health education, health care plans, medical screenings, and health coaching.

HIV Services

On-site HIV services provided to patients and their partners include: HIV counseling for patients; medical assessment and referral to medical care for patients who are HIV positive; case coordination and case management.

Family Services

Our medical director, Dr. Susan Neshin, hosts an informational session geared to concerned family and friends of our patients. Information regarding FDA-approved medications for Medication-Assisted Treatment for the treatment of opioid use disorder, health concerns and treatment interventions is provided. Sessions are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:30pm.

Medication Assisted Recovery Support (M.A.R.S.)

MARS is a peer-initiated and peer-based recovery community for Medication-Assisted Treatment patients. Services include education, support groups, and events through peer mentoring.
